Frequently asked questions

HOW MUCH DOES DAYCARE IN TOUHULA COST?

As in municipal daycare centres, Touhula’s daycare fees are, depending on the municipality, based on the following:

  • Daily time in daycare
  • Value of the service voucher or private day care allowance
  • Parents’ income and family size

You can check the monthly fee for a specific daycare centre directly from the daycare centre manager. Contact information for each daycare centre is available  here.

FOR MANY DAYCARE CENTRES, THE FEES ARE THE SAME AS IN MUNICIPAL DAYCARE

In several of our daycare centres, the fees are the same as in municipal daycare. According to our philosophy, daycare fee should not be an obstacle for families to apply for a place at Touhula.

WHAT ARE YOUR SUBSTITUTE ARRANGEMENTS?

Every now and then a staff member is absent and a substitute is required. We can quickly arrange for a good and reliable replacement. If needed, our own employees can switch between local daycare centres to help out. We always ensure that the number of staff is sufficient to ensure the safety of children.

WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING HOURS DURING HOLIDAYS?

During holidays (summer vacation, winter holiday, and Christmas – New Year) some of our daycare centres in the area are closed while some are open as usual. When the kids are on holiday, staff can take some time off, too. This arrangement helps us to ensure we have a full staff during weekdays.

The daycare centres that remain open will provide care for all the Touhula children in that area. Families will always be notified in advance which daycare centre in the area stays open.

HOW IS THE QUALITY OF OPERATIONS IN PRIVATE DAYCARE CENTRES MONITORED?

The same quality standards apply to both private and municipal daycare centres. The city or municipality monitors private daycare operations and offers guidance.

Municipal authorities visit our daycare centres for control, guidance and audit purposes. Touhula has an open and confidential cooperation relationship with the municipal administration personnel.

All our daycare centres follow the national and the municipal early childhood education and care (ECEC) plan and its principles. We also participate in the municipal ECEC working groups. Touhula has its own action plan supplemented by each daycare centre’s own annual plan. The operations of Touhula Liikuntapäiväkodit have been audited by Inspecta, and the daycare centres have been issued the ISO 9001:2008 certificate for compliance with quality standards.

Another factor that speaks for the quality of our operations is that we only recruit trained, professional employees for permanent positions.  Our staff’s professional expertise is systematically updated.

The satisfaction of our customer families is regularly measured at our daycare centres. We continuously improve our operations based on this feedback and openly communicate the results to our customer families and municipal partners.

WHAT DOES COOPERATION BETWEEN THE DAYCARE CENTRE AND PARENTS INVOLVE?

Families are the best experts when it comes to their children, and we pay close attention to their wishes regarding daycare. Each child will have an individual early childhood education and care (ECEC) plan, prepared together by the family and the daycare centre.

In addition to the ECEC discussions that take place twice a year, parents’ meetings and family events form an integral part of cooperation. Another key factor promoting open interaction with parents are the daily chats with employees when children are dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon.

Families are asked to complete an electronic satisfaction survey twice a year. We encourage parents to provide feedback at all times, either directly to our staff or by completing a feedback form.
